Our vision is to create a high quality service ensuring through our comparison site that you get a fair , safe and reliable service for all your repair needs in Bournemouth, Boscombe, Christchurch, Poole , Ringwood, Wareham & Swanage. Using you can find deals for all mobile phones from IPhones to Samsung's and more.

In the last 10 years, the smartphone industry has exploded. These days if it 's not smart it's not worth having. As our mobile phones get smarter, the cost of buying and fixing them becomes higher. Long gone are the days that if your phone has broken you can easily replace it with a new one.

Mobile phones and IPhones on today's market can cost anywhere up to £600+ which , by the way , is more than my first car cost! That being said our mobile phones and Iphones need love, care, maintenance and repairs. So who better to fix it than the company who made it ...right? Well if you're willing to pay the likes of Apple or Samsung half the cost of the original price of the phone! Crazy I know but this is the world we live in.

Enter the small local gadget repair shops, thank god for these small business owners for bringing a much needed service to the masses. We salute you and your 3 month warranty on all repairs, your reduced cost, speed and understanding of how important our IPhones are to us. Without you, up and down the country would be a long line of cracked iPhone screens, damaged Samsung Galaxy's and useless Ipads, we thank you for your continued service.

For the majority of these shops you will find honest, decent folks making a living from their technical ability. However, due to lack of regulation there are horror stories that we have all heard about- the rogue traders keeping low standards, using cheap parts and lacking in decency and morals, offering overpriced shoddy services.

Prices for repairs differ massively from one place to the next and cheaper doesn't always mean a lower quality service, even the rogues can offer their service at a premium. Finding a good price for a good service can be very difficult, with over 40 mobile repair shops in and around the Bournemouth, Boscombe, Christchurch, Poole , Ringwood, Wareham & Swanage area, finding one that suits you is no easy task.

Taking the time to completely research every shop in town, well let's just say it's less than ideal, there are just not enough hours in the day. Which shop covers your type of repair? How much will it cost? How long will it take? Do they offer a warranty? Are they a reputable repairer? These are just a few of the questions you need to ask yourself.

That's where we come in. We only work with trusted repairers ensuring that you get the best service at the best price. We work closely with the repair shops to get you the best price for all your repairs. Using our comparison site will make the task of repairing your phone a much better experience. At a glance you get to see all the deals, ratings, types of service and much more. Repair Guides

LG’s 100% Full-Screen Future Smart Phone and The Future of Bezels

By Admin

The South Korean multinational electronics company, LG, have filed patents for future smartphones that will be 100% screen, containing no bezel. For those of you not familiar with the term, bezels are the borders between a screen and a phone’s frame. In recent years we have been seeing a trend towards very narrow bezels, this started with TVs and monitors and has now taken hold in the smartphone industry.

Users are moving towards phones with larger screens, but there is a natural limit to phone screen size since being able to hold your phone comfortably, distinguishing it from a tablet are essential components of a smartphone. One way to increase the screen to body ratio without making the phone unnecessarily large is to chop down the bezel.

Iphone’s X, XS and XS Max line of products have gone in this direction, with the screen-to-body ratio on the XS Max now being 84.4%. Many new phones are hovering around this percentage and currently, the leader is the Oppo Find X with a screen-to-body ratio of 86.9%.

Presumably, LG has been monitoring this trend and have decided to take it one step further and create a bezel-less phone. The patents feature no bezels, the front is all screen apart from a small cutout for the camera. LG filed two patents featuring this technology with the Korean Intellectual Property Office in late October. The first design is a solid phone similar in shape to the iPhone 5, even down to its rounded corners. The second design contains the same full screen no bezel display, but instead has a tapered edge on the right-hand side.

LG hasn’t commented on whether there are any ongoing or future projects to develop these phones, and it is worth remembering that not all patents result in new products on the market. However, this move does show a keenness to move their phones in that direction and potentially produce the world’s first 100% screen phone.

Does this signal the end of bezels?

While many smartphone designers are moving away from bezels, it is still a hotly debated subject that many people on both sides feel passionate about. People in the pro bezel camp argue that bezels offer an inherent functionality, they make phones easier to hold and use. Let us have a look at what leading industry figures on both sides have to say.

Senior Tech Correspondent for Business Insider, Ben Gilbert, said: With the iPhone X, the lack of a bezel not only means that I'm more likely to accidentally push something, but I also worry about dropping this phone. Instead of gripping the phone, I'm more likely to cradle it, so as not to hide the screen with any of my fingers."

However, Editor At Large for Wired, Steven Levy disagrees stating: “I found the [iPhone X] display a noticeable, and greatly pleasurable, advance over my 'old' iPhone 7, whether watching 'The Big Sick,' streaming a live football game, or simply swiping through Instagram.

The consensus among techies and users seems to be: bezel-less is more eye-catching, but bezels have more function. It’s true that the industry has exited the age of knocking your phone off the coffee table and picking it up to find a shattered screen, however, our phones are still not indestructible. Some people feel that removing bezels at this stage would result in a drop in hardiness for a marginally better look.

Time will tell which way the industry goes, but for now consumers seem to be voting with their buying habits towards a bezel-less future.

Scam Calls on the Rise But Britons are Moving Away From Calls

By Admin

New research by First Orion, a US caller ID technology company, estimates that nearly half of all calls to mobile phones in 2019 will be made by scammers. From 2017 to 2018, the number of scam calls to mobile phones rose from 3.7% to 29.2%, and this figure is estimated to reach 44% by early 2019.

Scam calls are nothing new, but their increased frequency is causing people to avoid answering their phones unless they know who the caller is. People are becoming increasingly frustrated with the issue. Sites like are an excellent resource for those of us plagued by scam calls, but can also add to the frustration when you block the number based on the reviews for the number, only to find they ring you off a different number next time. Issues around data protection and personal privacy continue to be important issues for Britons and people around the world, and the scam call epidemic highlights how helpless we are in regaining control of our digital footprint.

Many of these calls are “robocalls”. Robocalls are phone calls that use a computerised autodialer and deliver a pre-recorded message. These are obviously cheaper to run than hiring a workforce to carry out the cold calls and means scam companies can increase the number of calls they do. Another issue with scam calls is ID spoofing. This is when a company will trick the network into believing they are in a location that they are not in. This is normally done to add legitimacy to the call, Britons are more likely to answer a call from Swansea, than somewhere in Nigeria for example.

For many people, these scam calls are a persistent annoyance, but that's it. For other people, more vulnerable people, they are scammed out of millions every year. These people are more vulnerable now than ever, with scam calls on the rise, and scammers becoming more sophisticated in their techniques of not getting blocked.

According to Ofcom, the number of calls made by UK mobile devices has fallen for the first time. This trend towards fewer calls is put down to popular messaging apps like Snapchat, Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp. These apps allow for easy ways to contact friends via messaging, but also allow for internet calls. Calls over these services often have higher sound quality, this is because a significant amount of data can be lost with traditional calls in the conversions necessary to link the calls. Because internet calls use mobile data, they can cut out a lot of this noise and put through anything the microphone picks up. Mobile phone call quality could be improved, but it would be a huge job that all of the phone network’s and infrastructure would have to buy into in order for it to have the desired effect. This is arguably not worth it since users are probably moving to internet calls for many reasons other than sound quality, making it difficult to justify a huge project for a potentially dying technology.

The Ofcom research found that 92% of people said their phone’s web browsing and internet capacity was vital to them, while three quarters said voice call is an important use for their smartphone. The total volume of outgoing calls fell by 2.5 billion minutes last year. It is not clear from the research the extent to which Britons are calling less, or simply favoring internet calls over traditional calls. It is likely a mixture of both. This trend probably represents a wider trend to all things internet and digital. In 2011 calls using mobile minutes was roughly the same as calls made on landlines, this was not the case by 2016, with calls overtaking landlines by a huge margin, and now it looks like internet calls are replacing mobile minutes. You can also see this trend through sim and phone package deals, there used to be a very low data offering, since it wasn’t an essential part of the phone, and mobile minutes became the comparison most people cared about. Now, most packages include unlimited minutes, and data is the component that decides the price. Mobile data is becoming increasingly competitive between providers, with many offering unlimited data at cut-throat prices, this will likely aid this transition.

How do I unlock my phone in Bournemouth?

By Admin

This is a question we get asked a lot here at Repair Village, so I am going to answer this question in a short post to help make the process transparent.

In most cases, it is always best to contact your network provider to see if they are willing to provide the service for you. However, this is not always possible. So we have decided to team up with a local provider who specialises in iPhone unlocking in Bournemouth. The great thing about this is that is can be done remotely, there is no need to visit the shop! The service is limited at the moment to IPhones, but this will expand in the future. We are working on providing this service to our customers and hope to have it live within the next month.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, you can always contact us here.

Choosing the right repair shop for you.

By Admin

There are loads of places around Bournemouth to get your phone repaired. There are a few shops in Bournemouth town centre, some big chains and some small Independent shops. There are a couple in the triangle as well as Boscombe and Christchurch not to mention Holdenhurst road and that’s without even talking about the shops available in Poole and even further afield like Wareham and Swanage.

We are lucky as we are not short of choice when it comes to getting our phones repaired. You could even say we are spoilt for choice, so when you do actually need a phone repair where is the best place to go?

This is one of the hardest questions to ask yourself there are so many to choose from! Some are more expensive than others, some offer a much quicker turn around when it comes to getting your phone back to you, others offer a loan phone.

Finding out all this information is key to making the right decision if one company offer it a lot cheaper than any others there will be a reason. For example some of the repair services on are specialists in IPhone repairs others have been doing Samsung’s since day one, if you’re not too worried about warranty length then some offer a one month warranty while others offer up to a year!. The difference being piece of mind.

If you’re looking for a quick repair with the intent of keeping your phone for another year then maybe the longer warranty is better for you but for others who are due an upgrade and only want their phone to see them through to that point then the lower warranty would suit you.

In any case whatever your needs RepairVillage is here to give you the freedom to select the repair that suits your needs that’s why were here to empower you our users!

From Bournemouth to Boscombe and beyond. RepairVillage was created to give you the ability to find what suits you without wasting all your time. Save Time, Save Money, Save Your Phone!

IPhone Repair in Bournemouth and Poole?

By Admin

We all know that awful moment when our Iphone 6 becomes damaged that sinking feeling you get when you see it bounce off the floor, you can't help but think as it rebounds surely it was not designed to withstand that kind of abuse.

If you are one of the lucky ones and you have not had to deal with this situation . . . wow amazing! Teach me your ways but for the rest of us normal folk shock horror! The last thing you needed right now was this happening, so where do you turn?

After a quick Google search there seems to be a lot of places to get an IPhone 6 repair, great right? No not really, once you start phoning around you find out once place will take four days, another place is asking for a horrific amount of cash for the repair of your IPhone this can go on for hours before you find the repair shop your comfortable with.

Time is not the only factor you should consider when trying to get your mobile phone repaired there are a lot of different questions you should be asking to make sure you get the best service for you.

So I have created this list of things to look out for when trying to find a good repairer.

This list is not set in stone and it's not a law you should follow it's just a guide of things to consider.

  • Distance

This should not really be a factor because a decent repairer is worth traveling for. I am not talking London but locally you should consider traveling up to 5 miles if it's worth it.

  • Length of service

Find out how long the shop has been trading for? Although this does not determine the quality of the repairer it may give an indication. If they have been trading for 5 years or more it's safe to say they are doing something right. Some repair shops come and go the ones that go within the first year of trading tend to offer a slightly lower service hence why they end up closing.

  • Customer service

When you spoke to the repair shop did you feel they were helpful with the question you were asking? If somebody is willing to take the time to help you over the phone chances are they will take the same approach to repairing your phone , putting in time and effort.

  • Price

Get a few prices it 's not like buying a phone where most of the time it 's roughly the same price there is no standard at the moment so prices will differ massively.

  • Warranty

Any repair shop worth using will offer at least a three month warranty on parts. Always ask about their warranty policy.

This is not an absolute list but it 's enough to gage the quality of the repair shop , your mobile phone and gadgets mean a lot to you so take the time to research your repair shop carefully.

Our website can offer you all this information and more at a glance , we only work with trusted high quality repair services and we have taken the time to research all the companies we list. We don 't just list every shop , so you can rest assured you 're getting a good deal and service when buying through us.

Phones you can find repairs for instantly with

We now can offer you quotes for the following IPhones and mobile phones and we are currently in talks with repair shops to extend this list!

We have seen trends in the type of repairs people request in Bournemouth with the Iphone 6 screen repair being our most requested quote. This is however about to be over taken by the IPhone 6s as more people are starting to request quotes for this.

The next one on the list is the IPhone 5s screen repair followed by the Iphone 6s screen repair. Although the Samsung screen repair is not that far behind. We are able to offer you deals for all your needs whether that be iPhone repairs or otherwise it only takes a moment to find the best deal so you can spend your time doing better things.
